@home Groups of students across the country have been trooping into @home stores in an attempt to understand the competition brief and to look for creative solutions for their entries. Howard Godfrey Managing Director of @home says, “We want the students to present fresh ideas and really mix things up a bit. They are the future and it will be interesting to see what they are thinking.

Sub Competition - Joburg Art Fair and Dokter and Misses A new sub-competition will be launched in October that requires entrants to submit an entry for a bookshelf and/or a table design - these will be made from PG Bison products and will be built for the 2011 Fair. Jason Wells, brand manager at PG Bison explains, “We are very pleased to announce this new partnership with the Joburg Art Fair. We have been providing product for the Art Fair over the last 2 years and we are happy we can develop this relationship even more by linking it to the 1.618 competition.” This competition is aimed at any student designers and architects. It is appealing because the winning design will be built and so while entries need to be creative and innovative, they also need to be practical. Judging will be done by Ross Douglas of Artlogic and Adriaan Hugo of Dokter and Misses.
